January 2013: Water Droplets Winner - Katja's picture "Time standing still" wins 1st place in the Water DropletsPhoto contest on Fine Art America.

August 2012: Best Hummingbird Photo Winner - Katja's picture "Time standing still" wins 1st place in the Best Hummingbird Photo contest on Fine Art America.

July 2012: Fantastic Birds Contest Winner - Katja's picture "Time standing still" is a winner of the Fantastic Birds contest on Fine Art America.

November 2011: Elkhorn Slough Calendar Winner - Katja's two pictures "Long-billed Curlew" and "Tree tunnel" are among the winning photos in the Elkhorn Slough calendar contest and will be published in the 2012 issue.

June 2011: Semi-Finalist - Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011 Out of 41,000 entries from 95 countries, 7 of Katja's photos are chosen as semi-finalists in what many call the world's most prestigious wildlife photography competition, the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year, owned by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the London Natural History Museum. The photos and categories are: "Wave Patterns on beach" — Nature in Black and White, "New-born Harbor Seal" and "Sleeping beauty" — Animal Behaviour: Mammals, "Flying towards the setting sun" — Animal Behaviour: Birds, "Kelp art" and "Yucca elata buried in Gypsum sand" — In Praise of Plants and Fungi, as well as "Probing for food" — Animals in their Environment.

January 2011: Most Viewed Image - In January 2010, Katja's photo "Belly Rub a la Kolibri" reaches the top position in the category "Most Viewed Images" on Digital Photographer with over 6,200 hits. One year later, it still is in the leading position, approaching 20,000 hits.

October 2010: Elkhorn Slough Calendar Winner - Katja's two pictures "Sleeping Beauty" and "Seal Siesta" are among the winning photos in the Elkhorn Slough calendar contest and will be published in the 2011 issue.

October 2010: Top 250 selection - NANPA Showcase competition The pictures "Time standing still" and "Flying towards the setting sun" are chosen in the top 250 of the NANPA Showcase competition (Tier III) and will be published in the 2011 Expressions print journal. This will be the first time Katzprints pictures appear in a book.

June 2010: Semi-Finalist, Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2010 - Out of 31,000 entries from 81 countries, five of Katja's photos are chosen as semi-finalists in what many call the world's most prestigious wildlife photography competition, the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year, owned by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the London Natural History Museum. The photos and categories are: "Sea Otter" - Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife, "Sandy Seal" - Animal Behaviour: Mammals, "Hummingbird" and "American Avocets" - Animal Behaviour: Birds, as well as "Desert Pricklepoppy" - In Praise of Plants.

October 2009: Elkhorn Slough Calendar Winner - Among hundreds of entries, Katja's picture "Seal pile" is selected as one of the 12 winning photos in the Elkhorn Slough calendar contest. And not only does it appear on the November page in the 2010 calendar, it was also chosen by the organizers as the calendar cover!

August 2009: Official Selection of the IPA 2009 - "Time standing still" becomes an Official Selection of the prestigious International Photography Awards.

February 2009: Your Best Shot Award - Katja's picture of a bubbly Lined Shore Crab wins the monthly "Your Best Shot" contest of the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve.


July 28, 2008: Picture of the Week Award - "Belly Rub a la Kolibri" is picked from 35,000 pictures to win the POTW award at Digital Photographer.

June 2008: Editor's Choice Gallery Showcase - Katja's gallery on Digital Photographer is featured on the DP front page as Pick of the Best.

December 2011 The winter edition of Currents, the quarterly magazine of the American Nature Photography Association, features Katja's photo "Gray whale abstract".

July 2011 The Summer edition of Nature Photographer Magazine features a whole-page version of Katja's photo "Big Sur River" (print edition).

April 2011 Katja's article about photographing the riparian hardwood forest bloom in Germany and acknowledging the beauty found right in front of us is published in Nature Photographer Magazine (iPad edition).

March 2011 Two of Katja's photos "Flying toward the setting sun" and "Hummingbird taking a shower" are featured in NANPA Expressions 2011, the journal celebrating the winning images from the 2010 Showcase competition.
